Hair loss in cats: Some causes of Feline Alopecia

Why is my cat losing his hair?

Cats are very similar to us in terms of potential health problems. Hair loss can be so annoying to them as it is for us to see. There are many causes for this problem, some of which are attributed to mental and physical problems, some of which have been reduced to more normal reasons. Some cases of alopecia (hair loss) in cats may require medical treatment by a veterinarian.

 

Often, cats can develop dermatitis or a reaction allergic to a substance such as food, chemicals, gases, plants, pollen or dust. These can be inhaled or in contact with the skin. Your skin may red and swollen, often showing vesicles or blisters. This can result in hair loss in that specific area or on the ears or a coat.
