"The ash content in the form of Innova EVO cat food too high?
I have my old 2 month 4 kittens Innova EVO dry because the vet recommended that male cats not in grocery stores for food, because of the risk of urinary crystals. I chose this food because of high protein, lack of products, preservatives and other ingredients. However, I looked at the ash content, which is a crazy 9.9% Is this too high for feeding cats males? Is it true that the ash content is a huge factor in the cause of urinary tract problems? Or is that the protein of all, all the physical nature of the food source that the ash content less of an issue? The kittens are refusing to eat more than a couple of teaspoons a day of any wet food I've tasted with (I tried 8 different brands), so it looks like the dry food with a little wet twice a day have to be the way to go.

This then reduces to minimum recurrent urinary tract infections and cystalization. For fussy eaters consider mixing the two together, but start small dry and wet more food. Then in the next week add a bit more humid to equal the dry and then the next week, more moist and less dry. Over time, their kittens may take to eat only wet. The wet food will help to acidify the pH of urine and urinary disorders keep under control.
