Feline Diabetes: The Ugly Truth about diet and diabetes in cats
If you're like most cat owners, the thought of any connection between diabetes dry cat food and cat never goes through the mind. But it should. The sad truth is that a steady diet of dry cat food often leads to greater problems health such as obesity and diabetes in cats feline. This is what you need to know if you think your cat is doing just "fine" on dry food.
Cats are carnivores required
What is a carnivore forces? In short, is an animal you need to get your protein meat, no grains. Proteins are composed of amino acids. Meat contains all the necessary amino acids required for a carnivore. Grains do not. People and dogs are capable of missing amino acids, but cats can not. That's why we can not do your cat a vegetarian. You can not argue with Mother Nature.
The problem is that dry food is made up mostly of grains. Why? Because the grains are cheaper than meat, so using more grain is better for the bottom line of pet food companies.
Do not be fooled by the protein percentage on the label of food dry bag. It seems dry food has more protein in canned foods is done. You have to look at the basis of dry matter, which is the exact way to compare. In a dry basis matter, canned food has more protein. Also remember that the type of protein is also critical – in the case of grains or meat.
Too Carbohydrates Many products for feline obesity

It is much easier to prevent your pet from becoming a diabetic cat is to treat the disease once it is developed.
Start by feeding your feline friend a high-quality canned food. Lots of exercise is essential to burn extra calories and keep it in perfect condition. Reserve time for two or three vigorous play sessions every day.
